This one’s a short, true story about my late Father’s friend (let’s call him Mr. N) back when we lived in Scotland.
Back then, he had two young boys just entering primary school whom we called Udin and Aki. (Can’t remember their real name.) They were two very playful boys. The younger one, Aki, was also talkative, and sometimes he ends up making funny comments that the adults used to have a good laugh at.
For instance, his father’s friend came by one day to their house to see his father, Mr. N.
Aki opened the door.
“Ayah ada di rumah?(Is your father home?)”, the guest asked.
“Takde…Baliklah.(No. You can go home now.)”, he answered, with an emotionless face!
One day, Mr. N switched on his computer to do his work. To his dismay, what came out of the screen was blank, except for a thin horizontal line in the middle of it. That really puzzled him and worried him sick. His work files are in the PC!
Typing anything or resetting the computer did not make a difference. There was sound, but the screen is the same as it was before. All Mr. N could think of was that it was the work of his two boys, always fiddling around with anything they get their hands on. They must have done something to the PC too!
Before he confronts the boys, he quickly went to a nearby computer shop to repair the PC, after giving a brief explanation to the repairman as to what had happened.
Without asking a word, the repairman turned on his monitor, adjusted the monitor’s screen display height using the adjust button at the bottom of the monitor, and left him, all red and embarrassed!
